Almost instant MVP material! The positive attitude of all staff at Borders on the Magnificent Mile/Michigan Ave was a huge ... WOW!

I've shopped three times in the past three weeks at a borders in my town and every time they have had only one cashier with 4 open registers (folks it's the shopping season!). Realy pissed me off and I told them so. B&N is now my favorite bookstore (I'm now a memeber!. I said the other day that TP would tear them apart. Guess I was wrong but as a company they have work to do. Can't live off the Chicago store alone.

Put this comment together with the "I love Chicago" and it works for me. Maybe it's not Borders, but Chicago (okay, maybe Walgreen's has not got it yet, but who can be nice in a chaotic store where your customers are overwhelmed just trying to find headache meds or hairspray.)
Miracle Mile isn't miraculous because of the stores. It's miraculous because the people in Chicago are just so darned nice.
It's a shock to the system to this East Coast girl who loves Saks and Sam's Club. Visit the same merchants--including Needless Markup (aka Neiman Marcus)--on Miracle Mile and, if you shop in Boston or New York, you will be astounded. "You people are so nice" was the only ignorant commentary I could put forth again and again.
Nature or nurture? Whatever it is, we need more of those attitudes distributed throughout the country and worldwide.
