Males: TAKE PLEDGE2005!
I PLEDGE ... THAT I WILL NEVER ENGAGE IN ANY SORT OF DISCUSSION OF PRODUCTS-SERVICES-EXPERIENCES THAT INCLUDE WOMEN AS CUSTOMERS-CLIENTS, UNLESS ONE THIRD OR MORE OF THOSE PRESENT AND IN POSITIONS OF AUTHORITY ARE WOMEN. IN SUCH SETTINGS, I PLEDGE ... THAT I WILL WORK TIRELESSLY TO ENSURE THAT WOMEN'S VIEWS ARE HEARD FIRST & LAST AND ARE CLEARLY INCORPORATED IN A COMMANDING WAY IN ACTION PLANS. I PLEDGE ... THAT I WILL NOT SIGN OFF ON AN INITIATIVE AIMED PRIMARILY AT WOMEN UNLESS WOMEN ARE ALMOST UNANIMOUSLY IN AGREEMENT. I FURTHER PLEDGE ... THAT I WILL BECOME A "PIONEER" IN GETTING WOMEN-CENTRIC VIEWS CLEARLY INTO THE MAINSTREAM.
Any takers?

I'll take the pledge.
Though what I do doesn't really have a specific M or F focus, I interact with a good mix of men and women every day. I learned a long time ago to have Julie (my lovely wife) proof anything of importance that I was trying to write/say/etc. I never really thought of it in terms of M-F, but that is EXACTLY what she was bringing to her reviews.

What do Apple do in this area?
Count up how many women you see with iPods, and compare that with how many are using alternative products. I don't think I've ever seen a women with anything but an iPod.
The iMac was about the product being funky. You never saw one of their ads talking about size of memory.
The new iMac G5 is a beautiful machine. One of the big selling point is that the monitor is also the gadgetry. Not much clutter in the home, and it's attractive enough to be in the same place that you have guests visiting.
Everyone should look at how cars have changed by thinking about women. There are still markets (like software) where products still very much feel designed and built by men.
How some cars have become objects of desire for women in ways that a lot of men can't understand (MG Roadster, Miata, Beetle, new Micra).
Your posting has helped me "see the light". I will ask my wife to preview my "company built" software before it goes out of the door and listen to and work with her recommendations.
