Saturday Edition
Ended up reading the latest Atlantic almost cover-to-cover. Richard Clarke, the former anti-terrorist chief, has a hair-raising piece, "America Attacked: The Sequel. Looking Back from 2011—an Imagined History." To be sure Mr Clarke takes a few expected, perfunctory digs at the President; but mostly I think the story is all too plausible, and not very political. Quite frankly, I think one almost has an obligation to read & ponder this story.

Terrorism is a real war - since I work in Washington, D.C. it is easy to feel it every day.
However, many in the USA may be in denial.
Meanwhile France, Germany and others in the EU are raiding Mosques and getting uber-aggressive to rid themselves of the perversion of islamo-fascism.

Now there you go again John Freeman - interjecting your Bullshit Bias.
You would have done well in Germany 1939.
Are you related to Harry by chance?

John, agree. I have a forlorn hope that Mr Bush will use the 2nd Inaugural address this week to cut the crap about the WAR on Terror. I'm an ACLU/Bill of Rights true believer (that's what we're fighting for); I don't think the issue is about the Patriot Act; I think it's about trebling the resources we put against the WAR on Terror. And, alas, maybe it's about acknowledging we have a Fundamental Problem with Islamic Fanaticism.I come to this conclusion VERY reluctantly.
