"Please try my direct cell phone [$$$-$$$-$$$$] and/or leave a message - thank you." Recorded while smiling in a sincere voice - why bore the caller with too much detail?

I have this one under my Brand You campaign ;)
I do hate it when any voicemail feels it still necessary to explain that "...the person you have called is either away from his/her desk or on another call. Please leave your...".
I know what 5 unanswered rings + a beep mean ;)

I called my mortgage broker the other day. I knew she was on vacation, I just wanted to leave her a message in case she was checking them. Her message was classic. She explained that she was on vacation and would return the following week....what was funny is that she was just rambling, and you could tell she was flipping her calendar open as she struggled for the date....it was awesome...
small towns are hilarious!!

Great idea! Here's my new message:
Hello - this is Walter White. If you've reached this recording its because I'm out changing the world by liberating latent individual and organizational abilities. Please leave a detailed message so as to rescue both of us from phone tag. Thanks!
If your need is urgent and critical and please note the word "and" you can reach my pager at 1-800-xxx-xxxx.

This would be in keeping with my unofficial title of "Liberator of latent individual and organizational ability."

My favorite is the voicemail with "Jingle Bells" by the barking dogs, played during Christmas season.
(Of course, I'm talking about my home voicemail, heh heh)

"Believe it or not
John is not here ..."
"Please leave me a
voice mail ...
if you would be so dear."
Sung in a low/suggestive voice.
