Friday Edition
Came across, stuck in a book, the torn-out cover story from Time, October 25, "The God Gene." There was a quiz therein, "How Spiritual Are You?" I imagined I'd be in the lower quartile. But to my surprise, I scored 15 (out of 20), "highly spiritual, a real mystic." Ye gads! Here's Question #1, to which I instantly answered "Yes": "I often feel so connected to the people around me that it is like there is no separation between us." Duh! Of course! That's what my "speaking career" is all about!! That's why I'm here on earth!!

That is it - connection to a spiritual long-lasting - infinite sense of being. And why not - the planet and its people have come along way in the last 100 years - 95% of USA citizens report that they have faith in the everlasting.

I don't think the connection we seek to one another is necessarily everlasting. One hundred years is a blip. One million years is a slightly longer blip. The universe existed long before humans came around and will continue just as long after man is forgotten.
Even if our lifetime is all we will ever directly experience (the only thing I know for sure is I am alive now and not forever) we should still get as much out of it and put as much into it as we can. Our candles shouldn't just burn at both ends, but should be thrown whole into the fires of life to fuel the light and heat that feeds us all and makes life worth living.
