Fully agree with Aleah, every day is (can be) a day explicitly devoted to what you want (..if you want)!
And 14th of Feb would better be called Save Love From Plastic Hearts Day

This was sent to me:
A Moment of Love
Every person in the world has a heart.
Every heart has a place within
that wants only to love and be loved.
Let us connect with that
place of love in our own heart
and in the hearts of those around us.
Let us take a moment now
to open to the heart connection
we share with all people through love.
I don’t know where it came from or who to attribute it to. Happy Valentine's Day

Watch out for Cupid’s ambitious arrow
he’ll be most persistent this year!
He’s flying about delivering love
and his mission is quite sincere.

Love is in the details. I like this day, though I am not in love at the moment. But I do love my friends and that´s something.
Have a good day.

Agree Felix, but a day that "forces us" to focus on what we ought to focus on all the time is, in the words of Martha Stewart, "a very good thing"!

Valentine's Day is the one opportunity of the year where entrepreneurs can prove to their significant others who/what their true love is.

I wish everyone a wonderful Valentine's Day. I also agree with Tom. Any day that helps us focus on what's important is a good thing. Love often gets a bad rap but yet IMO, it's what makes life worth living. Hope you all got a hug today from someone who loves you. I received roses (my favorite) from my husband and he received...well, more love. ;-)

I spent an hour or two yesterday helping my 5 year old daughter and 9 year old son address valentines for their classmates, then I sneaked a few minutes to make a couple of valentine cards for my favorite children. I've been smiling all today about how cool it was to spend this fun time with my kids. Valentine's Day has just gone up, way up, in my books. Not an "official" rose in sight nor a decadent box of chocolates but a wonderful smug feeling of having it soooo good!

Happy Valentine's Story! ... I think!
Tom - I just had the most fantastic example to underline the Barbara and Allan Pease book you always talk about (I have read it and love it!!)-'Why men don't listen and women can't read maps''
My wonderful partner … and wife to be Annie …. decorated the lounge with four huge red balloons yesterday morning to celebrate Valentines day – a fantastic and thoughtful gesture that sums Annie up well.
Although I was working at the PC in the lounge I didn’t notice the balloons for two hours until Annie told me!! – that was after I had not noticed earlier the other two balloons she had tied on to the light pull cord in the bedroom!! –I didn’t notice those two till I went to switch on the light!!!
Yet just a few minutes later Annie showed me the letter we received today from the local council about some road works that would cause some disruption in our street for a few weeks and I made a comment about the name of the guy writing the letter – his surname was PLANT and it just struck me that was ironic when talking about road works and heavy equipment being in the road!!
Annie said "how come you notice that detail …but didn’t notice 6 Huge Balloons!!!"
That is an absolutely true story word for word Tom!!
Another example about the difference in men and women … I rest my case!
The great news is … Annie still loves me … she is the most special person in my life ‘cos she knows me so well and always forgives my eccentricities!
We had a wonderful Valentine's day by the way

I still enjoy making handmade Valentines. Moreover, it's fun to go back to the store and explore the children's boxed valentines. I'll pick up a couple of boxes and deliver them as random acts of saccharin kindness or send them out anonymously. It really brightens any cynic's day! I’ve got a few remaining, who wants one?
