Monday Edition
I've been reading a biography of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis and they recount a weekend visit she made to someone's country house where the hostess was annoyed at how often Jackie would disappear to READ! A girl after my own heart.
Wanted to mention I'm just done with that book and diving into Obsessive Genius, The Inner World of Marie Curie by Barbara Goldsmith. I expect Jackie and Marie had fairly different lives, but I also expect I'll find some things in common.
And big thanks to Tom for reminding us (nearly every day around here) what a great pleasure it is to read.

To "read" seems a bit passe however in this new century of extreme speed and IT efficiency.
Perhaps "absorb" or "consume information" or "voraciously absorb knowledge" - OK nevermind, "read" is easier.

Turn off the TV and start reading. The quality and diversity of reading material that is available today we could only dream of even 5 years ago. Hang out at the Boarders or Barnes & Noble with a latte and read for enjoyment and pleasure. Your children will love it too!!!

I am a big sports fan, ESPN it is on in the back ground; I am a full-fledged reader, books are all over my condo, they climb the walls, wait for me on my couch and crowd my computer table; I dance with my iPOD on when I take my dog out for her walk because music awakens my soul. These are all neural bridges, neural bridges from our intellectual selves to our emotional selves. To be more specific, the more you are able to experience your own creativity the more you experience your own orginality - and the more confident you get...the more YOU you become. It's not the reading, it's the knowledge, the education and the neural bridges you are forming. The willingness to push beyong the normal routine, to be open and flexible to new possibilities ... creatitivity, that's what I am passionate about, that is my crusade. I need help.
