Event Slides: NAVFAC

Tom's in Charleston, South Carolina, speaking to the Navy, specifically Southern Division/Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Get the slides. Having been in the Navy himself, he's likely enjoying the occasion.

Cathy Mosca posted this on 03/10/05.

Anyone who listened to the same presentation I did today and still doesn't embrace the need for NAVFAC's transformation would qualify as either willfully ignorant or brain dead. BZ Tom!

Thoroughly enjoyed the presentation, particularly the need for NAVFAC to transform - we don't have a monopoly on this business!
Tom - Thanks

What a fantastic collection of 118 gems - I love this slide;

“Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” —Margaret Mead

Thanks Tom - inspiring!!

Transformation indeed.
What if our military began dropping "Love Bombs", going in to other areas of the world only to deliver technologies and opportunities that "teach and assist others to 'fish', rather than giving them a fish". Go into the lands of oppressed people and generate productive means to have food, water, protection from the environment, without having to choose being a soldier as means of survival. What would happen if our militaries were transformed into "creative 'geek squads', who deliver options from oppressors" Come on!!! What other options can be effectively delivered to the World with our Trillion Dollar "Defense" budget? The only enemies we have are the one's we create. Let's Transform. Evolve. Are we still too ignorant of our inner fears to release them, and realize a new outer reality. Transform indeed!!!

No, Joe, that's not innovation. There is much to be said for your wishes, but this is not the role of the military. The military has a specific role and it isn't to act like the peace corps. Sad as it may be, we will always need the military to be the military. I direct you to slide number 14 in Tom's navy presentation. I find your statement that "the only enemies we have are the ones we create" to be the epitome of ignorance. If you truly believe that you need to seriously study the way the world is and has been. You see, there really are a lot of bad people out there, and they don't wear US uniforms.
