Tuesday Edition
Flew into Austin, TX, Saturday to check out the South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Festival. Staying across the street from the convention center at the—"that's hot!"—Hilton. (Like Paris says...a lot.) Our friend Halley Suitt was supposed to be presenting here, but her son got ill, so she's home taking care of him.
Had dinner last night with Jim Coudal of Coudal Partners, his wife Heidi, and Jason Fried of 37 Signals. Jim's the guy who helped us turn tompeters.com into a Movable Type blog and responsible for the current look. Jason's on the basecamp project-management software team. We're using basecamp for some projects at tompeters.com. One complaint is that basecamp doesn't have a calendar function. Jason assures me that that deficiency is being worked on. That's going to make someone on our team very happy.
Before blogging became all the rage, Tom was posting book reviews and Observations (essentially early blog posts) to this site. You can find the archives below.

while at it.. you may want to ask Jason, what's with the compatiblity issues -- w/Moveable type and apache/2.0.40 (red hat)??
I can't seem to get the any comments section will using my RIM-BB7250. Yes, I have reached out to Cambian Webmaster- whom I belive who hosts TP.com amongst other sites too.. but so far - no reply!! :(-

peter, why don't you send an email to: email@37signals.com
i don't think cambian will be able to help you on this one.

Basecamp doesn't have anything to do with Movable Type so I'm not sure what issues you are talking about. Further, Basecamp is a hosted solution -- it's not something you install on your own server -- so there aren't any Apache issues to worry about.

The look and feel of this site is superior - more friendly and easy to play with than almost anything else.

I agree with John, you have done an excellent work. Congratulations.

Erik. Thanks for mentioning 37 signals. I looked at the 1.0 version about 12-18 months ago (it could have been longer than that, I can't remember). It just wasn't "professional" enough for us an our needs. Tying in a calendar to dates would make for a huge improvement and answer many many prayers in the workflow management business.

It's me! I'll be the happy one. The sooner you get a calendar framework for the task layout in basecamp, the happier I'll be!!! Thanks!!!! And, thanks, Erik, for letting me know.
