Yes, the war is constant. Search engines is the main Fodder for Revenue on the Internet. This has been in the pipeline for many years. I blogged this early Dec/05. http://peterdawson.typepad.com/blog/2004/12/yahoogoogle_squ.html
follow the links.. it goes right down to the patent laws on search algorthims.
Secondly, this was the time Acoona was launched

Acoona has the biggest userbase. Its is driven by a large chinese userbase.. which sadly BusinessWeek has not mentioned in thier article !! :)-

For me it's Google - and only Google. Google works, and that's whats it all about. You can search for web-sites in Norway, Sweden, UK or US. It doesn't matter. Google leads you to the right web-site.
Happy Easter.

SEARCH ENGINE REVENUE is becoming massive - I can understand the war - I use them all but prefer Google.

I try not to have a favorite. If all you use is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a nail.

Thats a good Statement Sean, I love it !! Google is a hammer for every search. Today every one says search it- its just a googleclick away.. !!
But Crawl's , spidering and ranking of pages the google way just may not project the correct information. do you know once that "ABUSE in Abu Ghraib prison !" was dropped out of their Search Pattern. this means that Google is filtering search returns - such that it suits what they think is good for the consumer. we noted this salient piont of google's strategy

I tend to use whatever search engine is most conveniently located in front of me. Sometimes that means Yahoo, sometimes MSN, sometimes Google (on the Tom Peters site, you can search their site using the local search engine they have provided by FreeFind.com).
But if I'm not having much luck on whatever search engine I'm using...I'll usually click over to Google.

BEST NEW FIND - http//www.brainboost.com
Sifts search results for the answers to questions; then ranks the answers by the likelihood accuracy and completeness. Brainboost gives answers rather than just pages.
PLUS - Brainboost seems to have a sense of their brand. First line under the Name is a hyperlink in the form of a question "How is Brainboost different from other search engines?"
But it really depends on what I'm doing. Google's okay when I'm in a hurry and need something obvious. But I'm not a huge fan.
Sometimes I need to take a winding road for the information I need. Usually then I go to dogpile.com - the power of metasearch. Dogpile also has the best phone directories in my opinion.
