Tuesday Edition
Tom is speaking again on March 30th at the Better by Design 2005 Conference in Auckland, and since it is already tomorrow there, the slides are up at our site now for the convenience of our friends halfway around the world. Tom's really getting into the topic of design, so he's produced three presentations for one appearance: Keynote Two, The Design49 (a subset of Keynote Two), and The Power Is the Story (a variation on a special presentation posted on tp.com 15 October 2004).
Hello, New Zealand! You rock! (As all film fans found out by seeing Lord of the Rings.)

The slides on storytelling are wonderful - congratulations Tom.
I have a chapter called "The Power of Story Telling" in my book 'Simplicity is the Key' and Tom's slides are music to my ears.
Only today I have had a fascinating exchange with doctors who tell me 'everything in medicine must be evidence based.'
What a dull, boring and tired expression that is.
I wish in healthcare 'Evidence based' could be replaced by 'Listen to the patient's story."
My 76-year-old mum does not understand 'evidence based' - she does understand 'how it feels.'
Long live stories!!!

Thanks for posting this, I'm in NZ but unable to attend so it's good to see these. Looking forward to Tom's impressions of the NZ trip.

Magnificent. Take exception to the bias against men though - why is it that the fabulous chefs, fashion designers, athletes, and artists of most types are celebrated most highly as men - especially when most of their clientele is women?

Robin, I know! Tom has been out of electronic contact since he's been in NZ, but we'd all love to hear his impression, and we hope that's forthcoming.

Tom gave a fantastic speech yesterday at the 'Better by Design' conference www.betterbydesign.org.nz in Auckland, New Zealand.
As always, the slides above do not do justice to the power of the man.
Some attendees commented on Tom's 'bias' towards women and older (44+) market segments. This criticism is probably unfounded as Tom has correctly identified that these two market segments are currently under served.
In the 1980s Tom visited New Zealand and found it a small and funky place. I hope 20 years have not dulled us and that he enjoys his time here.

I was in Auckland for this conference which was excellent. Tom's framed the event very well and raised the bar for both designers and business.
