Thursday Edition
So many of you are frequent travelers, does anyone know the history in the airline industry's "Saturday Night Stay-Over" rule, that gave you a better rate if you were willing to waste your weekend in a far-away place?
It's fun when you're young and single, but once you've gotten in the habit of sacrificing your weekends and then you find yourself a little older, a little married, or with a little family, it's no fun anymore.
As for history, the Saturday Night Stay-Over is becoming just that. In fact, so many of the standard fee rules are being tossed to the breezes, it's hard to know what strategies work best when trying to find cheap fares these days.
And when it comes to frequent travelers, Tom of course ranks way up there: try New Orleans, Kiev, Dhahran, York, and San Antonio in the next two weeks or so!

I agree with you Sean - where is Tom?
TP blog is livened considerably by the great man making his outspoken views known - without his insights the site is frankly no different to literally thousands of others!
Tom Peters personal input is the only thing that makes this site stand out from the crowd!

Sean/John/Mary/Jack/Ted/Brad/Ashton/Mike,
it would be nice if your comments would stay on subject. if you don't like what is going on here, there are plenty of other sites to visit.

Erik - sincerely this is on point - Saturday night layover - that isn't "management" or any other subject that is close to the quality usually seen here. Maybe you just want Erik drones to always agree or praise subject matter like this? Zero Erik tolerance for those with "unique" views as Tom might say?

Personally I think the team blogging concept is genius. Tom gets to disappear for a while (he's a busy guy after all) and he gets his blog updated too. And, I usually learn something in the process.
Also, most businesspeople fly a lot, so things that affect business travel are of interest to me. Dang, get an RSS news aggregator. If the headline isn't interesting to you, just skip it. How hard is that?

Erik's point is that those of us who run this site, Tom included, choose to have many voices here. And a range of subjects. And that it seems visitors can:
1) Choose not to read entries that clearly say posted by Halley, Erik, Cathy, Steve, or Pam. (See Robert Scoble, above.)
2) Give their opinions that Tom is the only one they are interested in reading without insulting the others.
3) Continue to give opposing views, which we welcome, without belittling the writers whose views they oppose.
And as to business-like topics, Tom has commented here on the contents of his luggage, his favorite shoes, and a shopping spree in Milan. Business? Clearly, not everything on tp.com is strictly business, and it never will be. But then, we love diversity.

Your three points are well made and very perceptive Cathy - I have no problem with them.
I hope I have never insulted another blogger - it is not my style. I do like to make my point strongly - I will admit to that!
Positive and constructive 'banter' is healthy.
I feel tp.com is a wonderful forum for discussion of things close to my heart whether it is Tom's favourite shoes or the future of the planet.
My main point is the site is no different to thousands of others if we do not have the distinctive and exciting element of reading Tom's personal views.
We all know Tom is mega busy and we all respect that.
I do just as you say - I look at the topic and respond if I feel something abuot the issue - regardless of who the author is.
I also look at many other sites.
Excellent discussion by the way.

Okay, now that we have that out of the way, on to the fun stuff!!! When I read the headline on this, I thought it was going to be a dating commentary. Somebody did a piece in the Boston Globe Magazine in the past couple of weeks about one-night stands. I thought it was brave of him to open that topic to public scrutiny. And I'm actually glad that tp.com hasn't gone along with him for the ride.

Trevor - thanks as always for the SIMPLICITY message - I really find that spiritual.
Maybe Tom should explain how the culture of Tom Peters, Inc. is evolving to include the almost non existence of Tom in the last 30 days as web logger - and into the future?
Remember Dr. Tom's Re-Imagine Manifesto:
"They say ... my (Tom's) language is extreme.
I say ... the times are extreme.
They say "Happy balance."
I say "Creative Tension."
They say "Peace, brother."
I say "Bruise my feelings. Flatten my ego. SAVE MY JOB."
Revolution Now! The free flow of radical ideas is the USA Ideology Norm and a must. TP, Inc. staff should support more radical ideas - the more the better.

best deal for viagra
oh darn.. I missed this interesting thread.. Now that shows we have too much on my plate right now !!
But to stay on topic Sat-nite-out ? Only in my home tome or cribs..!! I travel but its always like mon fly out... 3 days work and then fly back thrusday and in office friday. Why the routine. My weekends are for myself. Business is Business. Personal time is personal. If a Professional allows both times to over lap, then the intersection of professionalism is much left to be desire. Albiet there are times, one nips and tucks into time for site seeing and family visits too.

Fabulous comments Sean - My ego has been bruised so many times in my career that I am now oblivious to bruising. It feels like bruising is now part of my natural skin colour!!
viagra sales australiaMy ego is still as big (or small) as as it ever was - and I will continue to call for SIMPLICITY in all my dealings - we all know it makes sense!
Tom cannot procliam messages calling on us all to challenge everything and then object when we challenge .....
