Tom, I have to agree that it may be one of the worst ones I've seen in a long time. It wouldn't be so bad except that: It has absolutely nothing to do with the content of the article.
I read the article and kept waiting for something relevant about the impact US foreign policy is having on major US brands. I'm still waiting. Even worse, I'm still not sure what the point of the article was, other than to give preffered ad agencies a reason to start pitching for new no-bid contracts.
The idea of trying to improve our image abroad is a great one, but all the article really says is that a study was conducted to find out that much of the Arab world is unaware of all of the good things the US does in the region. And the proposed fix - spend a billion dollars on advertising - may or may not work.
How is all of this relevant to US brands feeling the pain of our image abroad? I'd like to know.
