Wednesday Edition
Full moon on the Farm in VT. Fire flies. (And, okay, a few too many caterpillars.) An extraordinary Chorus of Frogs drifting up from the nearby farm pond. Sitting out looking over 6 or 7 rows of mountains, each a different shade of green-blue-purple ... until 9:15 pm. Susan, who did her artist training in Sweden, concocting a traditional Swedish "mid-summer's" wild salmon feast. Doesn't get much better...
(Whoops, I'll be in Kiev this time next week; I understand there are now tours of Chernobyl ... charming thought.)
Before blogging became all the rage, Tom was posting book reviews and Observations (essentially early blog posts) to this site. You can find the archives below.

And in England we are enjoying a heatwave - probably chilly for you guys .... but 85 degrees is hot for us ....
It is Wimbledon fortnight..... Tim Henman giving us Brits heart attacks and threatening to go all the way but then as usual Tim will slip up along the way .... if only he could have Sampras metal!!!
Ahhh the joys of an English summer .....

Santa Fe: we had an always appreciated rain yesterday afternoon - so hard the birds were roosting on the covered patio with their fluffed out feathers. Today 90 degrees with the usual artistic light blue sky.
Plenty of rabbits here - scant evidence of frogs.

Trevor, I'm still stuck at the old McEnroe-Borg classics! Few (None?) better.

Game set and match to you I think Tom - there will never be matches like that again - my favourite player was Nastase - what a legend!!!
Annie and I are are about to go for our 5 km run ... maybe we should get some Wimbledon strawberries and English teacakes on the way :-)
McEnroe is a commentator for BBC these days - and still playing very competitively on the seniors tour over here

Doesn't he also have a TV show on CNN or PMSNBC here in the U.S.?
I miss Steffi and Boris mixing it up as well. Boris first victory was inspiring vs. him now being a Player Agent pricing Mr. Ballack into the Stratosphere.

Sounds idyllic and a perfect way to recharge the batteries.
Am heading up to Stowe, VT this weekend to attend my nephew's wedding party. Can you put a hold on the weather until Saturday? ;-)

From Tucson Arizona: I was making fun of you guys when you were covered with snow on winter day's, I am regretting that now; 110 degree days are no fun here in Arizona; although, we do have a full moon, a beautiful sky, a glass of wine, cheese and sourdough bread. I think we will survive the heat.
Have fun in Ukraine!

Tom, Unicef is doing some great work in Ukraine, taking care of young (often very young) Chernobyl victims and their families. The melt-down was bad enough, but the legacy is the real disaster. If you're offered to a trip to the site, my suggestion is to refuse politely and ask to visit the children's hospital, instead. I haven't been, but if I ever have the chance I will. I gather its a sobering experience.

For anyone interested in Chernobyl Elena's blog is a must read: http://www.kiddofspeed.com/default.htm
She is a motorcycle rider that goes exploring the area around Chernobyl taking pictures etc. etc..
Enjoy...

Still looking for the first warm day of summer here in the Great Northwest. Winter brought us sun and spring Karma in the form of rain. Our local walking man, you know the guy who walks around town mumbling and picking stuff off the ground. Stopped my family as we were leaving our Strawberry Festival and said that summer would be on a Tuesday this year. I thought it prophetic. And hopefully wrong. I have friends from VT who come over and bang on drums with us. Good folks boy- jes- us- motha.
