Thursday Edition
I really like doing what I do. (I learned so much during my Italian presentation Friday—will share later, as I'm still digesting it.) Also, I realize that I enjoy the prep as much as the product. I've read a ton of stuff (such as George Leonard's Mastery) that says successful people—in sports, the arts, biz, and life—are those who most enjoy practice. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

Gary Player one of my golfing heroes said 'The more I practice the luckier I get' - I just love that! Always do your homework - there is no greater feeling at the end of a piece of work to know you had prepared well.

Dear Tom, your presentation to SME's in Bologna was uplifting and enriching. We got enthusiastic feedbacks from all of the entrepreneurs and execs who attended. You gave a lot of practical advice and tips people could use RIGHT AWAY to improve the added value generated by their companies. Having you in Bologna was one of the best moves we ever made to add value to our customers. Period. We'll keep you posted on the revolution you just started. Thanks for coming to Italy. Paolo

Reminds me of the old joke: Guy lost in New York, looking for Carnegie Hall, stops and asks an elderly gent "How do I get to Carnegie Hall?" The response: "Practice!"
We practice for what we do. As a teacher of technology (ToT), I practice for all my classes all the time. Then, when it's over, I critique my performance. The next time, I need to explain this better, I can develop a diagram, I can have them read this instead of that...constant learning, constant practice. The Performance is the Thing, but it depends on preparation, and Preparation = Practice!
Thanks, Tom, for reminding us.

I heard this quote somewhere :: it might have come from you, Tom but it stuck with me ... "Good Luck is when preparation meets opportunity"..I recently met a little 7 year old boy from Bangladesh living in New York and he just touched my heart - He went to a Knicks game and came home and said one day I am going to play on the Knicks - and his dad got him a basketball and a hoop which was put in the house down in the basement and everyday this little boy comes home and practices repeatedly over an hour with total focus - then Dad put the net out in the street and same routine - I work for his father who owns an engineering firm down on Wall Street and I came over to his house a couple of times during the week and this little boy was watching videos of the Knicks practicing and then over and over again he put the ball into the hoop until he could run and jump and do it...One day I asked him if he wanted to go to the Book Store and he said yes and came with me and picked out a Basketball book of facts, etc. but then much to my amazement he brought a book over to me on Martin Luther King and I was so surprised by that and he looked up to me and said, "Martin Luther King is a hero of mine. He helped a lot of people" The focus, sensitivity and intelligence of this little boy will carry him so far.....I have a feeling that you were that kind of little boy as well, Tom and you must have astounded your mother. Here's to the next generation.
