Wednesday Edition
Tom's in California, and before his speaking engagement with Aetna, he had time to take some beach photos. He caught this great shot of a surfer's pre-ride meditations (it looks like) at Laguna Niguel. If you'd like to download the Aetna PowerPoint slides, you can get the final presentation version here, and the long Web version here.

Before blogging became all the rage, Tom was posting book reviews and Observations (essentially early blog posts) to this site. You can find the archives below.

Great photo. I love it. I wonder if these last pictures taken by Tom have something to do with Seth Godin´s last (or one of the last) articles saying Flickr is great strategy for spreading the word. Anyway I appreciate his photos, both taken by him and taken to him.

Just wanted to say that I really appreciate the fact that Tom makes all of his slides available. They are such a great resource.
Along those lines, a question - do the background colors of each slide have any significance for Tom in his presentations? Like (red - idea A, blue - idea B, etc.)
Thanks!

A picture saves a thousand words - thanks for a cracking shot Cathy.
Tony - you are sooooooooo right - I have said many times I feel lucky to get 'for nothing' stuff that I would be charged for by many sites. Tom walks the talk about sharing information and it reminds me of a quote I often use in talks 'The best way to gain power is to let go of power'

Tony, for the most part, blue indicates the beginning of a new section. Red is the predominant background color for quotes, and any other color is chosen to reflect the mood of a statement. But Tom makes all the choices, so he could tell you better than I.

Mr Peters, thank you for the quotes in your slides on how & why healthcare needs to be changed. I'm a medical student in Texas and am relieved that there is a recognition out there that things need to change, and that big business & entreprenuers are making things happen while the medical establishment continues to pay lip-service to things like reorienting around chronic care & prevention.

Or maybe it's an ad for The Radical LEAP.
Or maybe I came back to this picture again because I am contemplating taking a deeper leap of faith into my business. Here's to our OS!M moments!

Raj, I came away, oddly, with some thought that the insurers might get on this bandwagon. They'd like to keep us out of expensive acute-care hospitals, and the best way to do that is prevention-wellness-chroniccare-homecare.

Tom, I'm organizing a group of employers to put pressure on the system to re-imagine and change the quality of health care. Thanks for the inspiration.
