One Dollar Can Save a Life

Our friends at www.blogidarity.org think that $1/month can save a life. We agree. Also, you'll recognize most of the names of the blogidarity folks from the comments pages here at tompeters.com. Thanks to Felix Gerena, Rosa Say, Trevor Gay, Steve Sherlock, Troy Worman, Rocky Noe, and Phil Gerbyshak for putting together this life-saving and life-affirming site. One of their beneficiaries also happens to be Clear Path International, which our friend and guest blogger, James Hathaway, co-founded. Click on over to www.blogidarity.org and donate some money.

Erik Hansen posted this on 04/17/06.

Thanks Erik for mentioning our project. The main idea behind Blogidarity is that you can really change the world. Saving one person´s life is a big change and you can contribute to it.

Thanks Nellie, I´ve read your enthusiastic words at Blogidarity.org They mean a lot to our team.

Thanks for the plug Eric! A little help will go a long way.

From the Clear Path website: "At Clear Path International we serve landmine and bomb accident survivors, their families and their communities."

Thanks for the mention Eric. We all can make a HUGE difference, $1 at a time. Dig in, dig deep, and help out! That's what we're all about.

And I spelled your name wrong. Sorry Erik (with a K, not a C). Thanks EriK for your mentioning of Blogidarity. It is much appreciated.

This community (TP.C) has been so good to Clear Path... really... all of us at CPI (meet the team here: http://cpi.org/info.php) are touched by the support.

Thanks folks at Blogidarity for creating some buzz for us

...and thank YOU Tom... and Cathy.... and Erik...

Tom... even the Vermonters are starting to smile with spring coming....

A small bit of home for you, I was in Williams store this morning (always has been my favorite store in town) and there was a group of regulars around the coffee pot telling stories of different things they had seen fall out of pick up trucks over the years.

I could have stayed all day... but I left trying to figure out how I could create a podcast of that scene without killing the goose....

Thanks Erik. I heard a talk over the weekend that 20000 people - mostly children die every day - mainly because of extreme poverty. As Annie and I went for our daily run yesterday afternoon I noticed new cars for sale on the garage forecourt at £29000 ($51,290). I couldn't help feeling we have our priorities wrong somehow. It is wonderful that TP Group (through you Erik) is promoting this effort. Everyone can do something and Blogidarity is just a small way of trying to make a difference.

Fascism and communism and dictatorships always starve the human body and soul. Hopefully every dollar hits the ground and truly benefits those in need 100% rather than going into "leadership" bank accounts - thanks for organizing this.

Speaking of driving our cars, how about a bumper sticker or one made of the see through cling type to promote these great efforts. If we can advertise our businesses and our political opinions, surely, we can support causes like these. I've got it, the front side of our business cards support our livelihoods and the back side promotes our favorite charities.

Spread the word like the Pay It Forward Model,do something for three people, and ask each of those three to do it for three more http://payitforward.warnerbros.com/Pay_It_Forward/

Send the link to

BLOGIDARITY ~ Cause $1 can save a life
http://www.blogidarity.org

to three people you know and ask them to do the same. Better yet put it in your e-mail signature. I've just done so.Felix shared with me that they have created a little tag that we can put on our websites should we feel so inclined. I'm waiting for mine to arrive in the e-mail and it will go up.

If we can viral market ourselves, we can sure as Heaven do it for things like this . . .

E-mail is out there to BOYcott EXXON-MOBIL - $400 Million to their just retired CEO Lee Raymond. THEORY is if E-M as hugest takes a finance hit - then price wars may come again rather than BIG OIL collusion. www.stopexxonmobil.org

Geez Sean, I'm already boycotting Citgo because they are a direct arm of Venezualuan prez Chavez; BP because of their alleged illegalities; and Speedway because their gas sucks. Now I have to boycott Mobil, too? I'm going to have to convert my vehicles to run on used deep-fryer oil if this keeps up!

Mike - apparently Brazil is now energy independent - sugar power ETHANOL - a must for the USA .....

Posted by Sean at April 19, 2006 8:27 AM

Sean--I read that about Brazil, too. I live in the heart of sugar-beet land--not too much cane still grown in the US--but I think that kind of sugar would be good for ethanol as well. Problem with ethanol--from corn or from sugar--is that it still takes a LOT of petroleum to get to the final product. In the case of corn-based ehtanol, MORE petroleum is used to create it than would be used for creating gasoline. Call me a cynic, and I know you will, but that dog doesn't hunt with me. I'm sceptical about the Brazil thing, too, for that and other reasons.
