Your charts here are great amalgamations of ideas presented by James Surowiecki, Ricardo Semler, Jerry Harvey, and Gordon Mackenzie (or at least I think so). Of course, for all I know, they originated from you. Anyway, I'm keen on why, especially as extolled by Semler in "Maverick", modern US companies don't get it...don't conduct busines using the valuable insights these men bring forth (or others like them). Upon Reading the "Wisdom of Crowds", I discovered how much of what Surowiecki preached was seen manifest in SEMCO long before Wisdom had ever been written. I developed a story (briefing) to show how SEMCO was a case study of the Wisdom of Crowds long before Wisdom was written. My point here is that these ideas about business, about caring and showng the customer you care seem so obvious. But nobody else thinks so. What's Up?

Well Gabe, and I don't mean to be glib, I'm serious about this--if everyone was doing it, it wouldn't stand out and those of us who do it wouldn't be rewarded as richly by increased business, etc.
Do you really want everyone to excel? I don't because many of them are competitors!
