HR Top 100

Human Resources magazine in the UK published a list of the Top 100 Most Influential people in HR (June 2006). In their words: "Here is the most definitive list ever published of HR's biggest movers and shakers, produced from names submitted by readers—and then ranked by the top 100 themselves."

Tom made the list. Maybe because he calls HR "The Rock Stars of the Age of Talent." You can see the whole list and accompanying article here.

Cathy Mosca posted this on 06/05/06.

I can say as an HR professional, my department has utilized some of Tom's philosophies. Congrats on the ranking Mr. Peters.

How the heck do Jim Collins hit the #6 spot !!

Thats unfair.. TP is head and shoulders above him in the HR thought process !!

Oh..ok thats my rant.. IMHO-- "Built to Last" is a failed postulation !!

I agree with some of the others Tom should be No: 1, am sure Covey and Handy have done a lot and the others I am sure rate a solid mention...

I know when I chat to HR people and train with them I push vigorously push the TP line and use it to underpin all aspects of their HR stuff... If they throw a what if I usually have a TP type comeback to support a view point.

Okay so some will say he reflects what the others are saying... I agree but then we all do that, consciously or otherwise. Full praise to Tom for being able to do what he does and hold the floor with such authority.

Tom rocks!

No way. Tom Peters at 22nd. Never. Tom Peters has brought some of the most profound thinking to all of us in business. Maybe it is because your ideas/thoughts are simple....obvious....not full of technical jargon. For me that is why you have always been the best person to go and see. For me the simplicity is the profound bit! If that makes sense! I leave your presentations motivated and understanding clearly what I need to do unlike a lot of the others on the list.

What an interesting list in the number of HR people included and their positions on the list. Might this suggest an internal focus/silo thinking rather than a more holistic, outside the box approach to get new ideas into the HR function?

Maybe happy to remain in the paradigm of followers of fashion rather than creators of fashion?

Steve - when will you learn that people are sheep. You will always see more followers than leaders. :)
