Tuesday Edition
Our friend and former colleague, Geoff Thatcher, is looking for some quick feedback on a blog he and a co-worker have fast prototyped. Geoff works for Carat, which calls itself an independent media communications network. There is one business unit there that specializes in placing executives from Philips, HP, Amdocs, SAP, and other companies as keynote speakers at events around the world. Apparently, folks there have been talking about creating a website to support that unit for the last couple of years.
Tired of waiting, Geoff and his co-conspirator have set up AboveCLevel.net, and he's anxious to get feedback on the site. If people vote thumbs up, he'll take the info to his leadership team. If it's thumbs down, well, hardly any money spent and no one the wiser. Except you folks who visit. Jim Coudal of Coudal Partners (design firm that took tompeters.com from static website to blog-powered site) is responsible for the clever AboveCLevel name.

its not about how the blog looks, rather on what the content is and if they truely carry out conversations.
I have sub'ed to their blog to see how they do :)-

I'm diggin this site. I especially like the ability to get interesting stories from top execs.

I like the design (especially the little things - like you can click on the name of the blog and get the main page with all of the listings - nice). It's crisp and clean - not cluttered.
The writing style is also interesting and the posts (so far) aren't too long. They make their point and move on - I like that!
What is the goal of the blog? Do they want to generate interest in securing speakers, do they want to generate consulting business, are they trying to create buzz around potential speakers, or are they trying to offer information that will improve the audience's ability to make a speech/presentation or know a good one when they hear it?
I will definitely keep watching the site - it's neat to have a window into a one stop shop for what these people are saying. It's a shame that they're only concentrating on "great communication in the form of formal speeches and presentations of these executives". I'd love to hear some commentary on other communication modes! Good luck!

I liked everything about the site except the name. At first glance, it looks like a chamber of commerce site for Cleveland.
Good luck with the project. It's a great concept and if you proceed I'll definitely put it on my blogroll.

Is it an automotive industry issue blog, outlet for creative brand placement, or a blog addressing (and I quote)...
Great leadership communication inspires people, aligns organizations, engages audiences and moves markets. At aboveclevel.net, we chronicle the leadership communication of CEO's, CMO's and even the rare CFO who won't put you to sleep with accounting jargon and acronyms. If an executive serves "above C level," we're interested.
Make sure your content lines up with the Mission. Otherwise, it comes off painfully inconsistent and lacking identity. I'm sure you have some great A-level execs working on this thing, but you'd do phenomenally well to contract my brother-in-law (who has been managing the content for authors John Maxwell (maximumimpact.com) and Todd Duncan (mortgagemasteryclub.com).
Other than that, like any blog - it's definitely got some good potential with your network and info, but it needs to be tightened up a good bit.
