Tuesday Edition
The Onion's satirical description of Derek Jeter's new fragrance line: "An oxymoron you can smell."
(The Onion must have a thing for Jeter these days. A headline in the same issue: "Expert: Derek Jeter probably didn't need to jump to throw that guy out.")

Alot of people x Alot of free time = The Onion. Who cares what they think? Nonetheless, I'm sure they're grateful for the page views.

The ONION is boring. Jeter with 5 World championships - plus a MVP season this year AND the Yankees just humiliated the Red Sox - 6 Rings soon.

I won't waste a lot of time defending The Onion - I was more amused by the idea that you can stick a celebrity like Derek Jeter's name on a fragrance. But, since Ed mentions it, I'll say that satire is still a great way to make a point, and The Onion does it brilliantly.

Steve, somewhere in Hollywood there are publicists looking for any opportunity to put a celebrity's name on anything (think Derek Jeter on cologne, Paris Hilton on... anything). Another ridiculous example of this I recently saw was a "limited edition" Tony Stewart line from Old Spice. What kind of scent images does this conjure up (racing fuel and drunk rednecks?). I think the Onion's take is right on the money.
