The common thread is obvious: "help out"—in many respects still "blue ocean," and very in tune with our incredibly busy lives. The "help out" are my words, not Mr Penman's. FYI: You can also download—free—Jim's book: What Will They Franchise Next? The Story of Jim's Group. I plan to read it on my (long) trip to Athens.

yeah the "two wet rats" aka Kim and Renee took 15 yrs to write and describe "blueocean's" -

but how long did it take Jim to create his franchise value chain ?? :)- a fraction of that time !!

Jim's follows many of the precepts in Chip & Dan's book on what makes ideas stick, boiled down to simple, obvious value that is easy to remember. It seems that most valued businesses, people, books and tips have those traits. I'm hoping that's what will make our new online network for women a success.

While driving on Route 128 (outside Boston) to a tech company with products that were difficult to explain and with not particularly compeling value propositions, I would occasionally see a van that said on the back "We Clean Blinds." Whenever I saw it, I'd heave up a big sigh and say, "Someday, I want to work on products that are that clear and straightforward to talk about." Hasn't happened yet, but looks like the Jims have got it down. You know what they do and what it does for you (save time). I love it.

I agree Maurine,Jims sure is very clear & straightforward.

1. Jim is in Australia, New Zealand & Canada

2. Talent is quite easy to find in those countries

3. Talent makes Franchise work

4. USA & UK expansion may succeed - however - the lifestyle & work culture of some EU countries and Latin America may preclude opportunity there

Needless to say I love the Simplicity of this. Congratulations Jim - you are a star - not only cutting the grass but also cutting the crap it seems to me :-)
