Hi Tom,

Thanks for singling out the winter 2006 issue of Strategy + Business Magazine. I look forward to reading the articles and sections you recommended. Looks like they have a great site too.

Sunday's Academy Awards was really international indeed with the many nominees and winners, and speeches given in foreign languages. And with The Departed winning best pictures, I am sure it must have made the Hong Kong filmmakers of Infernal Affairs (2002) really proud as it was the basis for The Departed. For movie fans out there, I highly recommend Infernal Affairs. And it is great to see Hollywood doesn't suffer from "Not Invented Here". Witness also "The Lake House". (smile)

Cheers,
Kempton

Tom

Strategy + Business has become a "stand out" magazine under Editor in Chief, Art Kleiner. Art is a rare talent - he has a razor sharp intellect, a generous disposition towards other people's ideas, and is a gracious promoter of other people's talent. More is the pity that he is not a totally "free agent" in his job with S + B because it is a company funded and backed magazine so there are limits to his promotion of new ideas. Of course, Art is a well known presenter of his own ideas through his writings -ie notably in the field of organisational development. Again, with Art Kleiner and S + B, we see talent and a quality outcome being joined at the hip so to speak.....

The interview with Alvin Toffler is a gem - he has developed his concept of "prosumer" to a new level. His insights about the new and emerging means of wealth creation (ie beyond cash and beyond barter) are worth the ticket price for the magazine. Toffler has become ideological about his predictions, and for me, that makes him less valuable than he was 20 years ago when he went with his purest ideas and the trends he discerned. BUT, he is still way ahead of others in his field....

Richard.

Thanks a lot Tom. I'm constantly trying to find the best resources on the web to feed my mind with best the ideas/analysis out there. I literally devoured the Alvin Toffler interview. What a fascinating man! I subscribed to the RSS feed of strategy+business website and can't wait for the next "delivery". Tom, I have a request: would you be kind enough to share with us what are the, let's say, top 10 business resources you use? I'm trying to trim a little bit my websites/blogs list.... It has grown and grown and grown...so much that I think I'm dispersing my efforts trying to keep track of everything... Who said curiosity and appetite for knowledge was necessarily a quality? ;)

Tom, have you actually used the new Dragon product? And which version? I only ask because I have two previous versions sitting on a shelf in front of me. And I don't want to strike out on the start of Spring training!

Love you Tom for pointing to the freshest sources of truly cool ideas!

S+B is truly exceptional, and human. What I love is that they make the future humanistic and have promoted the ideas of the likes of C. K. Prahalad who champions marketing to "the bottom of the pyramid." What revolutionary ideas coming from a company-sponsored magazine!

There are only three sources I access for fresh ideas and inspiration RELEVANT to our world:

1. tompeters.com
2. S+B magazine
3. McKinsey Quarterly

Added bonus: All sources provide tons of information for free. :)

4. And the amazing/prized source of dogs talking & mocking each day ... truly fresh & free ...

Tom - I too have been impressed with Dragon Naturally Speaking. Your review reminds me that I need to upgrade to 9.0.
