Tuesday Edition
Thriller writers don't get much better than Charles McCarry (latest, Secret Lovers) and Robert Littell (I'm reading Legends—about a former CIA officer who becomes confused about who he is. Apt reading in "Scooter" week?).
Highly recommended, a surprising "page turner": The President, the Pope, and the Prime Minister: Three Who Changed the World, by John O'Sullivan. Obviously about Reagan, John Paul II, and Thatcher. It is doing no less than changing my perspective on three decades of my life.

I picked up "Three" a few weeks ago. Marvelously well-written. Much to learn of these events in the 80s. A good book if you enjoy history and its lessons.

Tom--You're absolutely right about Charles McCarry. (His SECOND SIGHT happens to contain one of the best descriptions of baseball ever written.) You also mentioned Douglas Kennedy a while back. It's a shame he isn't published in the US recently. Thanks for sharing your fiction reviews. They add an extra dimension to the cyberspace persona we're privileged to interact with on this site.
