Right on Tom!
Paying with "real" money -- cold hard cash, adds a realism that plastic/credit doesn't have.
It's a great way to get a real handle on expenses, or as I like to think or it, as differentiating between "pure expenses" and "investments in me and my biz"

I use plastic almost exclusively, but I use Quicken and my credit union's online banking service to balance the account no less than twice per day. Watching those numbers drop, especially when you (as I do) enter items into my Quicken registers as BUDG -- as opposed to DEP or WITH -- that factors in my fuel and other upcoming recurring costs per pay period.
This way, I slap myself with reality first thing every morning. It works, oh how it works.
