Thursday Edition
You can be assured that this Blog will not distract readers with movie reviews. Nonetheless, I must break the implicit rule and report that I cannot remember when I laughed as hard, often to the point of choking, as I did last night while watching Death at a Funeral. Part of the joy was that the entire audience was in near hysterics for all 90 minutes of the performance—and we doubtless spurred one another on.
'Nuff said.

The more informal stuff on your Blog the better as far as I am concerned. Business does not have to be serious surely (Does it??!!!) I always say ‘it’s not compulsory to be miserable at work.’ I was once told by a boss we were laughing too much in the office and this did not project a professional enough image …. My reply was unprintable but was two words and the second was ‘off’ – I left 2 months later. So … more of the same please as far as I am concerned Tom …. And I must get to see the movie!! ‘Dream Team’ is my favourite comedy movie of all time – so powerful and so profound and yet so funny.

Tom you should really be careful out there at them moveeez, all that laughin' sheesh.. What seems to be the future in political action is that which engages whatever generation i'm in (1981 ish) with the usual irony and cynicism, but mainly with humor. Will Ferrel is of course a flippin' genius and he gets at the political critique through the kind of humor that makes it hard to breathe. His America in the film 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)' is soo good that it's scary; praying to "baby Jesus" at dinner with the family and to "our sponsor Cocacola, who we hope has a real good quarter'. Well anyway laughing is good and laughing about endless overt political content would seem even better..

Agree with your "thumbs up" assessment of the film. When my wife and I saw the film a few weeks ago, we were nearly in pain from laughing at some of the zany characterizations delivered by the superb cast--notably Alan Tudyk and Peter Dinklage. Worth a viewing at the theatre...and possibly a second watch on video.

I saw another good film last night. I haven't been to the movies in a long time because I've lost patience with their failure to try to attract anyone other than 18-yr-old boys. But, Pete Seeger, The Power of Song is excellent. So, there you have it, two movie recommendations on tp.com.
