Thursday Edition

I do love London and feel fully at home; I've been coming over here since serving a summer stint as a midshipman in the Royal Navy in 1965. I gave two speeches at the London Business Forum today, and have another two ticketed tomorrow. How I made it through, I don't know. Though still suffering bigtime from jetlag, I nonetheless stayed up, tracking every pitch in Game 4 of the World Series—Jonathan Papelbon's capper occurred at 4:08 a.m. Greenwich time, just 37 minutes before my wake-up call. It's a long way from my new Kubota in Tinmouth, VT, to the shop windows of London being dressed on Sunday—see above.

And like all our American friends Tom you are always welcome in our wonderful cosmopolitan capital (of the world) :-)

I don't know how you made it through, either. Four whole speeches, a business class plane flight, and watching a baseball game on TV. Yeah, you got it rough, bub.

Another thought provoking and challenging afternoon...
It was my 10th "live" event and you never fail to make me realize how important it is to enjoy what I do......and to never stop learning.......
Thanks from London

So, Tom, when are you planning a trip to Bangkok? I would love to hear you speak! Will travel!
Educators need to hear more from people more like you. Help get us out of the box!

Tom
Many thanks for such an inspirering talk yesterday. Being a Business undergraduate it helped tremendously. I think I was the only one there yesterday in my early twenties and who wasnt a leader (yet anyway) :) Thanks again and will certainly hope I get to hear you talk again somewhere.

As Tom speaks (rants!) in London, Merrill Lynch & Co. said today that chairman and CEO Stanley O'Neal has left the firm, less than a week after it stunned Wall Street by revealing an $8 billion hit from a bet on sub-prime mortgages.
Well, O’Neal took home a compensation of $46.0 mio in 2006 and by virtue of not having an employment contract is not entitled to severance pay. However, he still gets a whopping $160 mio - indeed a golden parachute for a dying (or dead?) para-trooper! I wish the Board wakes up (atleast now!)

Tom - Please gloat about the Red Sox, not to mention your other teams. You deserve it. As a Cubs fan, however, I feel like a Liliputian: We got swept by Arizona, who got swept by Colorado, who got swept by the Red Sox.

Very fortunate to see Tuesday's lecture, the excellence plain to see, palpable even, with tangible value. Tom's stamina was remarkable. I'm heading back to our Search business to DO "the talent thing".

Great Event in London on Monday (October 29th). First time I have seen Tom live - he has a lot to answer for, in terms of influencing my career progression. I would liked to have said hello, but too many other well wishers foiled my best efforts.
Thank you though, I feel able to (once again) use the education provided to assist as many people as I can possibly speak to.

Thanks to Tom for an excellent presentation in London this week. Very stimulating. I love the short sharp punchy slides and with regard to
'people at their best'I thought I would share a phrase I like from a Marillion (UK rock group) song called Neverland:
"I want to be someone
Who someone would want to be"
