Tom left his laptop(s) at home when he left for walkabout in New Zealand, so I don't know how he found a computer and a connnection to send us this message and the first (I hope) of his photos. But he apparently thought a Valentine's Day greeting was worth the effort.
I'd like to add my greeting to his. Happy Valentine's Day from all of us here at tompeters.com. Send flowers to somebody!

Happy Valentine's Day to all at TP and all commenters.
I gave 12 heart shaped dougnuts to Annie, my wife - I hope you agree that is acceptable Cathy :-)

"somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond any experience, your eyes have their silence: in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me, or which i cannot touch because they are too near, your slighest look easily will unclose me though i have closed myself as fingers, you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens (touches, skillfully, mysteriously) her first rose or if you wish you wish be to close me, I and my life will shut away beautifully, suddenly as when the heart of this flower imagines the snow carefully everywhere descending; nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals the power of your intense fragility: whose texture compels me with color of its countries, rendering death and forever with each breathing (i do not know what it is about you that closes and opens; only something in me understands the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses) nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands." e e cummings

Trevor - I'm glad you like the e e cummings poem. He's in my top 5. Cummings creates such exquisite images on paper, leaving a lasting imprint. I wept when I read my first cummings poem many years ago. They have the same affect on me today. What beauty!

We're hoping that Susan is there in NZ too, with Tom. Valentine's are no fun at a distance, especially when enjoying gorgeous sunsets.
We traded a new tshirt and Kinky Friedman guide to Austin, and flannel sheets on this V-day.

Steve Gray -- I'm glad you liked the e e cummings prose. Whether Trevor liked it or not, I'm uncertain. Happy Belated V'Day!
