Must Reading!

Our good friend Trevor directed us to our good friend Tom Asacker's "Nine Predictions for 2009." I agree with Trevor's "it’s brilliant."

Tom Peters posted this on 12/16/08.

Great! Thank you, Tom Asacker. I smile also at the lovely acknowledgment.

Thanks Tom A! Life is pretty straight forward when you look at it in it's simplist form. It's only us 'clever' humans who complicate it! Merry Christmas and Best Wishes to you all for 2009.

"It's only us 'clever' humans who complicate it!"

Gregg - you are a man of my own heart - simplicity always wins :-) - Tom A is a realist as well as a visionary.

Ugh! You can bet your bottom dollar that the gentlemen on that list were anything but simple. Simplicity can be stupid and benign. The fact that these men were not simple undoubtedly gave way to such concise brilliance. The quest for simplicity (and is it is indeed a quest!) need go through many complexities, otherwise it is just simply limp.

Simplicity is never easy. Otherwise we would see more of it. I do not wish to see your simple self. I wish to see your forever becoming self. Some of us arrive at different times before others; these others are often complex leaders. A list does not make the man nor do quips. Others extract quotes out of a large body of work usually; there’s nothing simple there.

Another thought: quotes alone do not make the man. The beauty in the list is Tom A's relevant thoughts for this time accompanied by the words of others, a wonderful timely coupling of brilliance. Perhaps without the predicitions the quotes may not have had the same effect on this particular time in our history.

Judith my prediction for 2009 : Brevity is best?

The simplicty of these 9 undersell the complexity of constuct and thinking.

Sparkling 2009 to all

Great stuff Trevor! I've posted it on my facebook page to share it!

I agree with you Judith that no one on that list is ‘simple’ – indeed I would go further and suggest we are all complex and that no one is simple. The beauty and joy of simplicity is how it is perceived by the beholder. Some people have the ability to reduce the complex to the simple and that is a joy to me. I never deny complexity exists but complexity is merely the sum of simple parts.

Posted by Trevor Gay at December 17, 2008 8:08 AM

Patrick - It is not complexity that we are in search of but is is indeed a necessary means. To even desire such a thing is not the point; that is foolish indeed. Complexity is the means by which we arrive at simplicity, exactitude, precision with full intent.

Regarding your prediction of brevity being best, is it sort of like "a fine nine?" Cute.

Sparkles are good! Wonderment! Thank you.

Shallow & pedantic - even lame like Asacker admits in the 1st one since he does not even understand solar systems' 101.

online pharmacy australia viagra "Making a difference will trump making a buck." Hilarious - I laugh all the way to the bank on that one! Gates & Buffet & Branson - it is all about making a mega impact & being wealthy! Make $10M in 2009 & give away $3M rather than pay taxes.

In places like bankrupt Iceland, Ireland & teetering England & Russia & soon the US - it is all about making a free enterprise PROFIT - keeping the business & families & free world communities going! :>)

"Make all things financial profit a priority & make a difference - to feed your soul."
