Saturday Edition
Tom's been having a thought-provoking debate on Twitter this morning with Pawan Rajs (@pawanrajs) regarding the importance of design. Follow the conversation here (between 9 and 10:30 a.m.).
In case you missed it, we want to point to an excerpt from The Little BIG Things published on ChangeThis.com as a manifesto titled: Enterprise* (*At Its Best)—designed by Joy Stauber, it's beautiful as well as thought provoking.

I'd enjoy a thought-provoking debate about the importance of design as much as the next person, but this wasn't really either a debate (more an exchange of sound-bites) or thought-provoking. Twitter's format may be novel, fun and even good for some purposes, but getting under the skin of design and how it fits into the process of invention, production and consumption deserves a better arena and more depth to qualify as debate, doesn't it?

Didn't know what day, so did a search on "@pawanrajs". That located his messages. But, sorry, they made no sense to me ...
Perhaps a debate on Twitter is like a debate in Haiku. You have to know what they are talking about to know what they are talking about ....

Mike L. - It was yesterday, April 9th from 9-10:30am. You should be able to see the back and forth in the Tweetree format.
RobCH - yes, a longer form debate would be interesting as well. But just like face to face conversations that you wish could be longer, Twitter is a real-time exchange with limitations. Doesn't mean it should be dismissed out of hand. Glad to see that it left you wanting more, as it means you're as passionate as Tom is about design! Thanks for your feedback.

Hi Shelley. Not dismissing Twitter out of hand (well, not completely) but also keen that its with-limitations level of discourse does not become accepted as a default standard for discussing things that matter. And yes, I trained and then worked for twelve years as a designer, so I do feel pasisonately about the subject. All the best.

Hi Rob and Mike – I think Twitter is an acquired taste. I have to say I was pretty negative about Twitter initially then I got involved a bit and was still not convinced about it. Recently I’ve been a bit more active on Twitter and I begin to see some benefits – particularly for referrals to interesting articles and information. It definitely has potential but Twitter is clearly not in depth discussion like Tom’s excellent Blog here.
Personally I still prefer Blogging but there are ways that Blogging and Twitter can be happy bedfellows (Am I allowed to use that expression in these politically correct days?)
Happy Sunday from glorious Warwickshire - Spring has definitely arrived – a 7 mile walk yesterday in warm sunshine – YES!!!
And finally ……. Lee Westwood – DARE WE DREAM?
