There are more African American men in jail in the US than in college.
We need to fix this first before we run around the rest of the world telling them what they do wrong.
Who the hell are we to tell the rest of the world how to behave?
Ask yourself why this is not as important to you as the women's issues you relentlessly push.

"Pushing women's issues"--how dare me!

I am with you Tom

My late beloved Dad (far from being a management guru) always told me to concentrate on doing one thing well rather than many things less well. Keep rattling cages for women Tom.
My wife agrees needless to say :-)
Happy Wednesday from sunny Shakespeare's County (BTW where's Patrick these days??) with 1 day to go to our UK General Election ... nervy times. I've made up my mind. Though not passionately convinced it’s a case of ‘better the devil I know than the one I don't know’ as far as I'm concerned

Dare we say that "men in jail" is a reflection of their family backgrounds is a reflection of the status of women ... perhaps we are all fighting the same war, but on different fronts.

Keep highlighting this stuff to a wider audience Tom. Quite apart from the criminal situations highlighted - the fact that we are wasting any of the precious human potential available in world just sickens me.
Glad to see you Trevor - you sound more certain in the voting than I am! Reading West has a completely new set of candidates (our very good and generally popular MP is standing down) so it's wide open between Lab and Con again here. Certainly been a more interesting election this time round...

Good to see you too Paul - I agree – a much more interesting election than usual. The expenses scandal and the resulting total loss of faith in the integrity of ALL of our politician’s means we are now far more cynical. I’ve been a lifelong Labour Party loyalist and despite losing faith in some ways with the Party, I just cannot bring myself to vote for a Tory. I gave very serious thought to voting Liberal Democrat but in the end they lost out because even the thought of putting my ‘X’ somewhere other than Labour is alien to my heart and my head. As polling day gets closer I feel the public want someone in charge who has experience as we face a ‘decade of austerity’ – I could well be wrong of course Paul – we will soon know.

I am with you Tom... As an African American Male, who happens NOT to be in jail, I am the first to say that the problems that we face with African American males in jail is no "overnight clean up" issue, it's a generational issue, heck, if we start digging into this problem (which BELIVE ME I think we should be) we will need to get all the way down to the problems we face at the root level. Divorce, single parent homes, lack of male mentorship and guidance... I can go on, BUT we get the point right? ...
I applaud you Tom for your soulfully cool stance on empowering women. For centuries we have missed the true potential in not only the women in the US, BUT throughout the world. Period. NOT ONLY THAT, the abuse they endure really needs to stop.. I am no fan of the sex slavery, rape, and straight up robbery of dignity that women have endured for a LONG LONG TIME, that sh** needs to stop...
I raise the banner with you Tom - Keep fighting brother.
