A great reminder from Gandhi. Related to this point is his refrain to 'be the change you want to see in the world'.
As well as remembering that 'you are the message', we should remember that our message has tremendous power in relation to how consistent it is...consistency amplifies your 'message'. Gandhi himself (or, for instance, Martin Luther King) was admired and followed not only because his 'message', his cause, was compelling, but also because his congruency, his consistency, was seemingly 100%: Great 'personal branding'. They walked their talk.
Authenticity = authority.

I had the great privilege of being among an audience of 600 for a two hour talk by Professor Charles Handy in 2006. Actually his ‘talk’ felt like a series of stories linked together to pass on great wisdom. His performance (that is the appropriate word) had me absolutely clued into the great mans every word. No PowerPoint slides (nothing against PowerPoint slides by the way) - Just Professor Handy’s amazing gift of storytelling.
