We shall not avoid ...
Bush speech last night. Tom speech in the morning to a customer service group. War Wednesday or Thursday, I figure.
Should I avoid the topic?
No.
I will not dwell on it, but also not pretend the world is the same as it was yesterday.
My shtick at its essence is the way people work together to accomplish their aims. Fact: We live in a Brand New World. New Economy … yes. And new politics, new modes of war and peace and human interaction.
Hence my "standard" message is a cry for boldness and experimentation in the face of unprecedented change and confusion. I.e., my "normal message" and the war actually dovetail nicely. ("Nicely" ... rotten word choice.)
None of this presupposes a pro or con view. Peters’ (Generic) First Commandment: Get used to a world where nothing computes using the old algorithms.
Not so incidentally, the epigraph for my new book is courtesy U.S. Army Chief of Staff Eric Shinseki: "If you don’t like change, you’re going to like irrelevance even less."
FYI: We finally have a book title: Re-Imagine! Business Excellence for a Disruptive Age. Drop the "business" ... and you can perhaps see my reasoning above. (The only reason "business" is in the title is to keep the marketers happy. It is ever thus.)
